Hackathon & NATIONAL DIGITAL SECURITY CONFERENCE' 19 - Edition II

Hackathon and National Digital Security Conference '19 (II Edition) is organized by the National Cyber Safety and Security Standards on 26th & 27th of July, 2019 at Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC), Mannadipet Commune, Madagadipet, Puducherry.

National Cyber Safety and Security Standards in association with various State and Central Governments have taken visionary initiatives to curb and enervate the notoriously spreading cyber threats from various directions and dimensions to safeguard the Nation from the current threats in the Cyberspace towards National Security.

National Digital Security Conference seeks to change the paradigm of how we look at digital space and security, critically assessing cyber security's impact on our country and people and its security implications. Also this conference explores the boundaries of cyber security and also provides the best practices to protect our Digital Critical Infrastructure where the sensitivity of the data plays a very vital role.

The mission of the conference is to establish a multi-stakeholder consortium that brings together State/Central Governments, Defence, MNCs, PSUs, Academics, Intelligence Agencies, Enforcement Agencies and etc., in an effort to improve the state of Cyber Security both at domestic and international level.

The Program agenda will discuss about the core domains: Threats to National Critical Digital Infrastructure, Cyber Attacks and Defense Strategies, Strengthening Digital IndiaSecuring Mobile & Embedded Systems, Cyber Security issues in Defence Forces, Enterprise Data Protection and Application Security in Emerging Technical Contexts, Data Loss Prevention , Latest Technologies in Data/Information Security, Web Application Security, Mobile Application security, Internet of things (IoT), Cloud Security, Network Security, Women’s Cyber Security, Social Engineering, Digital Crime and Forensic Science in Cyberspace, Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Cyber Security Domain, Privacy and Piracy..etc.

National Cyber Safety and Security Standards inviting all the professionals to grab this Opportunity to enlighten your Cyber Security knowledge and network with State and Central Authorities, Cyber Security Professionals/Experts, Security Analysts, Legal Enforcement Authorities, Network Experts and Forensic Professionals and Professionals from all sectors at this prestigious Cyber Security Conference.


Hackathon Step by Step Procedure:

The whole event will be divided into 2 phases both should happen in 2 different halls.

Instructions:
  • Participants have to bring their own laptops/systems & charger along with internet enabled.
  • Participants will be sign-up in the mentioned portal to get login details.
  • Once, the participants get the login details, they can login to the mentioned portal/application to perform the mentioned activities.
  • There are two phases in the contest.
  • First Phase is the entry to second phase.
  • Second Phase is the final round which declares the winners.
First Phase: duration (2 hours)
Participants will have 2 CTF's in first phase.
  • Capture the flag (CTF) contests are a way to teach people about real-world hacking and exploits in a good and fun environment.
  • Participants will be sign-up in the mentioned portal/application to get login details.
  • Once, the participants get the login details, they can login to the portal to perform the mentioned tasks.
  • First will be a combo of network/web/logic/bin minimum 2 should be completed to pass to the next CTF (Explanation: Participants should perform the web/network hacks in the mentioned portal to capture the flag).
  • Second CTF will be of different level of web challenges and it is time bound - all challenges has to be cleared to get to next level (Explanation: Participants should perform the web hacks in the mentioned portal to capture the flag). (Refer the attachment: CTF1 for more information)
  • The criteria 1 and 2 has to be full filled to get into the next hall for the live challenges.
  • On clearance of the first phase challenges researchers will get a certificate and an appreciation Swag From BugDiscover.
Second Phase: duration (4 hours)
  • Will be live BugHunting on BugDiscover Platform.
  • Participants will be sign-up in the mentioned portal to get login details.
  • Once, the participants get the login details, they can login to the portal to perform the mentioned tasks.
  • Each vulnerability reported by researcher will have a CVSS value that will be added to their score.
  • Based on the scores ranks will be issued to all researchers.
  • Last 45 minutes we will do a surprise announcement where researchers can do ZeroDiscover submission that is they can submit any reports of a company which do not have a Responsible disclosure policy (This will be like a wildcard round where people can increase their score).
(Explanation: ZERO DISCOVER

Bug Discover Zero Discover Program has been designed for security researchers to make responsible vulnerability disclosure in a secured way. Zero Discover program of Bug Discover helps researchers to perform their responsibility to secure an organization without compromising their identity. Sometimes researchers come across threats or vulnerabilities of application that are not listed on bug discover and these are kept unaddressed to the concerned organizations due to the legal policies of the organization. And at such occasions, Bug Discover a trustworthy Platform swoops in, helping the researcher in doing a responsible vulnerability disclosure. Bug Discover takes up such pro bono work, thus helping researchers to do their disclosure, and we escalate their reports confidentially to organizations. Zero Discover program awards Certificate of Responsible Disclosure to the researchers for valid submissions.)

  • Final announcements will be made on the day 2 (27th July, 2019).
  • Policy to get a submission approved it should be a valid vulnerability and should not be reported by some one at first. The vulnerabilities submitted will be approved only on first come first approve model the second submission of the same will not be approved and called as duplicated. And submission that are out of scope or not a qualifying submission will be called as rejected. (Note: Only approved submitted vulnerabilities will get a score). Prizes:
  • Top 10 winners will be announced as the winners
  • First 5 will get prize/swag/certificate
  • Rest 5 will get swag/certificate
